JOSEPH-SHARMAIN PRISCILLIA (D) 18.11.2015
by Karen Te Wao
It was with great sadness that I learnt of the passing another of our older sisters Sharmain Joseph in her hometown of Whanganui.
I first met Sharmain when I came to Wellington in the early 70's and she use to perform as an entertainer at "The Purple Onion' and also at the "Club Exotique" . Life was very different back then and there was a sisterhood to who we all belonged.
Sharmain would often come to Sharelles where I was staying at 36 Jessie Street Te Aro Wellington during the early 70's. The 80's came and we saw a lot of change for our community and most of us started moving out of the inner city including Sharmain who moved to Ngaio. I moved to Khandallah so we were kind of like neighbourhood sisters.
After a couple of years Sharmain decided to make the move back hone to Whanganui. Rest in peace my dear sister xoxo
